About Us

At Cypress Grove Academy, we do things a little differently. Our students receive a classical Christian education as professional teachers and parents collaborate with one another. In addition to being the only classical school in Mobile, CGA is also the only collaborative or hybrid-model school in our area. Students attend classes taught by degreed teachers three days per week and complete the remainder of their schoolwork, assigned and graded by classroom teachers, at home, on the other two days.

Our Mission & Vision

The mission of Cypress Grove Academy is to provide students with the joy of a Christ-centered, classical education that nurtures the heart and challenges the mind. Partnering with parents, our school exists to teach students to love God and practice virtue by pursuing truth, beauty, and goodness. The vision of the school is to shape the habits and affections of its students through Christ-centered, classical education that they may think logically, speak truthfully, and live virtuously. The desire is that through rigorous, yet joyful learning, students humbly and courageously bring gospel-hope to our city as effectual kingdom ambassadors.

“Education is not a subject, and does not deal in subjects.
It is instead a transfer of a way of life.”

Family Testimonials

The Ethridge Family

“We found CGA just a few months before my oldest began kindergarten. I knew we wanted to continue homeschooling past preschool, but despite our best efforts at connecting with like minded families in the area, we just couldn’t seem to find what we were looking for. One day, a friend mentioned a small hybrid school that a mutual acquaintance was helping start. I looked into it immediately and one Open House event later, we knew we’d found the place we had been praying for!

Two years later, I cannot begin to describe all the fruit that Cypress Grove has borne in our family’s life. The word “community” no longer touches it. Through this beautiful, little school, we have gained a family. The home days are such a gift and I love that I am still very much a part of my child’s education. The staff have all become so dear to us; the love of Jesus and passion for education so evident in every one we’ve come to know. We have also especially enjoyed the school’s House System, multi-grade interaction, and the regular opportunities to help serve & support others in our direct community.

When I see and hear scary things in the media that are becoming increasingly present in many schools across the country, I thank God every time for this safe haven He has led us to.”

The Persinger Family

Our time at Cypress Grove has been such a sweet gift to our family. Our children are receiving a wonderful, rich education, with the Gospel woven into each day and each subject. They’ve made friends that challenge and encourage them, and the faculty and staff has pointed them to Truth in a way that has shaped and steered their hearts. We have found community among the families that goes beyond the school day, and we are forever thankful for the relationships made and foundation laid at CGA.
